OUT - PATIENT DEPARTMENT



        The Out-patient Department (OPD) caters to all patients coming to the Institute for consultation and treatment. The present OPD building was set up in the year 1989 to meet the ever-growing rush of patients in the hospital. The services of the psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, psychiatric social worker and psychiatric nurses are available here. It also accommodates the
medical record department, reception counter and a sample collection centre for laboratory tests. All available treatment facilities are provided free of cost.

        The OPD has a large waiting hall, vehicle parking space, canteen, drinking water
and toilet facility.

OPD Timings: 

        Registration Hours:   09:00 A.M. to 02:00 P.M.
        Working Hours:        09:00 A.M. to 04:00 P.M.

        The OPD remains open on all weekdays except on Sundays and three national holidays (Independence Day, Republic Day and Gandhi Jayanti).

        There is no admission facility during holidays.

Special Clinics: (From: 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM)

            1.         Epilepsy & Neurology Clinic (Monday)
            2.         Geriatric Clinic (Tuesday)
            3.         Child & Adolescent Clinic (Wednesday & Saturday)
            4.         Alcohol & Drug Dependence Clinic (Thursday)

            5.         Psychosomatic Clinic (Friday)

Emergency Services:

        Emergency Service is available from 03:00 PM to 09:00 AM on all working days. This service is provided round the clock on Sundays and other holidays. There is no admission facility during the Emergency hours.

Indoor Admission Procedure:

        All patients visiting the OPD need to register at the Registration Counter. Thereafter the patient is examined by the Junior Residents and referred to the Senior Residents/Consultants. Admission is suggested whenever necessary. In case the patient is admitted, an average amount of Rs. 2000/- is to be deposited in the Patient Private Money Fund. The Mental Health Act, 1987 is strictly followed during the admission procedure.
